When I first arrived in Leipzig I was IN LOVE with their tram system. It was a dream come true after the New York Subway system. So many connections, clean, always with a little sign that told you when the next one was coming, almost always on time, and best of all, ABOVE GROUND! You could wait outside in the beautiful sunshine, instead of in a grimy tunnel with rats. Also, traveling above ground was much more beautiful and entertaining than the dark subway tunnels.
I loved it until the winter came. This system was not built to withstand the worst winter in the past 100 years (that is true people). The weather is so bad here that they have canceled all trams. Can you IMAGINE them MTA canceling all subways? Life would cease the function.
And that folks, is the closest mention of love for the MTA you will ever get from me. Love, Katie

well i was just in an amtrak for TWENTY hours to get from Ann Arbor to Minneapolis, so be thankful that you have SOME kind of public transit. :)
